Flamingos!

Before I went to bed I decided to hop onto FFXI to see if anyone was on. Resheph was on and he invited me to join he and his friend Seal farming, which we did for an hour or so while level synced. I got about 4500 free exp and some Fire Crystals and Bird Feathers!

Woo woo. Merry Christmas.

Goodness me, I can be wordy, can't I?

There is a certain satisfaction in not spending all your gil on materials with which to level a craft. And, well, of course I have no gil to spend, anyway. I know that when I joined in on some of those events with Immortality I was easily making enough money to spend however haphazardly I wanted to, but since I don't really play heavily enough to be a regular with them, with school and whatnot, I don't, and thus I have no gils!

I have come to elaborate on what I've been up to since my newest return to FFXI. As you can see from my last post, I leveled my Thief to 70 so that I could finally put on my pretty (haha) Optical Hat, since my lack of Emperor's Hairpin really made that slot embarrassing for me. But now, that is fixed. I have Pahluwan boots for 72 to replace my not-Leaping Boots, too. I like hiding my flaws. :) Hopefully I will either be able to afford a Scorpion Harness or even get enough points for my Pahluwan body, which really I think I would prefer, anyway. I hear that Thieves don't need a lot of accuracy enhancers, so I figure Sushi plus O. hat/Pahl. body should suffice. I suppose at 75 I'll know for sure, if I ever get there.

I was reading up on Clothcrafting guides on how to get through the 30s, seeing as I am level 30 clothcrafting. Most of them mainly focus on using the guild vendor to buy the materials then AHing or vendoring the results for a minor loss. I have no gils, so screw that. So then I looked at the Wool Thread recipe. It's level 35, which is a good gap for leveling, as far as I've read (and as far as I remember). Wool Thread is crafted with 2 Sheep Wool and a thunder crystal. Sheep Wool is 900 gil per clump at the guild vendor. No thanks.

Then I clicked on Sheep Wool to see if I could farm it. It is stolen from Sheep all over Vana'diel (which is painful to think about in a realistic way), and it can also be crafted with level 4 Leathercrafting via 2 Sheepskin and a wind crystal. Fortunately enough, Sheepskin drop from the same sheep from which I can steal clumps of sheep wool. Not only that, but level 4 Leathercrafting is just low enough for me to do without working on the craft before going out there. Level it while I'm farming, if you know what I mean.

So now I have a list of what I need. I have plenty of wind crystals, but I need lightning crystals. I remember from years past that Qufim and Behemoth's Dominion are both places consistently in a thunderstorm, so I trekked out there and managed to get 12 clusters within a few hours of afk-farming while reading a new book that I bought. I warped, sent all that to Bertha, then hopped on my Thief/Ninja, grabbed a scroll of Instant Warp, and outpost warped to Pashhow.

Why Pashhow? Well, I read that the sheep in Beadeaux named "Broo" were known to drop sheepskin by 2s and 3s there on a consistent basis, and not only that but they, just like most sheep, could have Sheep Wool stolen from them. The fact that they were around level 50 didn't both me too much, though I swore to myself that I wouldn't use any shihei for farming, and I didn't.

Right before zoning into Beadeaux, I encountered a 21-24 hour-spawn Notorious Monster whose name eludes me at the moment. Bip'daw Crumosucherdacher. Something like that. :) He was a paladin and dropped a mage shield, which I come to find out was so amazing for BCNMs for SMN and BLMs since they could actually wear them, unlike most shields, and before you could shift your level and gear, which I think makes this shield obsolete. It's a level 30 R/EX shield that I will never use so I will probably scrape the 3,000 gil that I can get from the vendor for it, though I might keep it as a trophy for my convenient luck.

Moving on. It took me a bit to remember my way through Beadeaux, since the Broos spawn near Qu'lun Dome's zone, which is way in the back. I managed it, though, with the moral support of Resheph, and then I proceeded to farm. I had 6 stacks of wind crystals to burn through, and I promised myself I wouldn't leave until I used all 72 crystals.

I even killed a few Quadav to make up for the 500 gil cost of my outpost warp. How silly am I? :O

I logged off at one point and fell asleep before getting back up the next day and logging on to Eruntalo in Beadeaux and finishing my farming, which was completed today. A nice 3 day period of slow farming for these silly Wool Thread, eh?

Once I used my crystals, I warped back to Windurst, sent all that I managed to carry except the wool back to Bertha, my mule, and got a hold of all my lightning clusters, and then crafted away in Woods. In the end, I managed to get 2.5 levels in Clothcrafting, up to 32, and I did cap out my Leathercrafting at 4 while i was farming.

And now I have 2 stacks of Wool Thread. Oh, joyous day.

8)

Today, I farmed Broos for Sheepskin. It was fun.

Durdii. I stayed on for about 6 hours one night WITHOUT AFKING and hit level 70 Thief. On that note, I hate Caedarva Mire.
